Operating Principle

Every byte enters frozen, leaves verified, and never silently mutates between the two.

Digital evidence is, by its nature, perishable. File systems drift, witnesses misplace laptops, opposing counsel issues a preservation subpoena two months late, and the underlying media is reformatted before anyone thought to image it. By the time a matter reaches depositions or trial, the artifacts in your custody have already been handled by a half-dozen tools, each one mutating the original object — or at least the metadata attached to it.

FrozenCase is engineered as the antidote. Built on WORM-compliant storage with cryptographic SHA-256 hashing applied to every object on ingest, validated annually by independent SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 audits, the platform treats every piece of digital evidence as if it will eventually be exhibited, cited, and cross-examined. It is a vault and a ledger and a delivery system, designed by former FBI CART operators and trial-tested litigators who have seen what happens when the chain breaks.

Chapter I

Preserve

Where every piece of digital evidence enters the vault and receives its first immutable fingerprint. Once written, the object cannot be rewritten, redacted, or deleted — only appended to, only with a custody receipt.

WORM-Compliant Ingest

Every upload lands on Write Once Read Many storage. The object becomes unalterable at the storage layer before the file is even fully hashed — a design decision that closes the conventional gap between "uploaded" and "preserved."

SHA-256 Hashing

A cryptographic fingerprint is computed at the moment of ingest and re-verified at every system boundary thereafter. Two values, separated by geography and time, can be compared to prove the object has not drifted by a single byte.

CryoLock™ Timestamping

FrozenCase's patented protocol issues a tamper-evident time-stamp within 90 seconds of ingest — the fastest in the industry per the 2024 Forensic Technology Center of Excellence review. The stamp is bound to the hash and to a quorum of independent time authorities.

Index

The forensic catalog that lets litigators find the smoking gun in seconds while preserving every chain-of-custody receipt. Index does not touch the underlying object — it only annotates it.

Search without side-effects

Index runs against a sealed read replica of the vault. Every query, every preview, every tag added by an associate is captured as an append-only event and re-bound to the parent hash. The original object is never rewritten to support indexing — which is the technical reason FrozenCase evidence survives Daubert challenges where mutable indexes do not.

AI-assisted categorization, auditably

When machine-learning models suggest tags, privilege calls, or near-duplicate clusters, the suggestion is logged as an unprivileged recommendation. A human reviewer accepts, rejects, or amends — and only the human's decision is bound to the chain. The model's confidence, training version, and inputs are recorded alongside the receipt.

Chapter III

Surface

How preserved, indexed evidence is actually produced to a judge, jury, or opposing counsel — without ever leaving the vault's custody envelope.

    Exhibit Export

    Generate Bates-stamped, hash-verified exhibit packets in seconds. Every page carries the source object's SHA-256 digest and the CryoLock time-stamp bound at ingest — a packet that reads, on its face, as forensically sound.

    Courtroom Display

    A presenter-mode client streams exhibits from the vault to chambers or jury screens. No file leaves the custody boundary; every frame rendered to the courtroom carries a per-session verification receipt stored against the parent object.

    Deposition-Share Links

    Time-bound, scope-bound share links for opposing counsel and expert witnesses. Access windows expire automatically; every view is logged as a custody event that names the recipient and the precise objects touched.

    Daubert Verification Reports

    One-click reports that document the full custody history of any exhibit — ingest hash, every access, every reviewer, every export — formatted for direct attachment to a motion in limine or a Daubert response.

The Patented Protocol

CryoLock™ — Sub-90-second tamper verification, bound to U.S. Patent No. 11,847,392.

CryoLock is the technical reason FrozenCase evidence holds up under Daubert. It is a quorum-signed, RFC 3161-compliant time-stamping protocol with three properties the rest of the industry has not been able to combine: it runs in under 90 seconds, it is bound to the object hash (not to a session token), and it survives independent re-verification years later by a party that has never seen FrozenCase before.

The protocol was reviewed in the 2024 Forensic Technology Center of Excellence assessment as the fastest in the industry, and it is the mechanism behind every custody receipt issued by the platform.
